Strabo was a Greek/Turkish geographer who lived 2000 years ago, and had developed a remarkably coherent understanding of how the Earth works. Far ahead of his time, he understood that the planet has a hot interior, that volcanoes are essentially heat valves, and that heat must somehow drive the horizontal and vertical movements recorded in the Earth’s crust– what we now call plate tectonics.
Strabo Engineering is currently four people: Ben Holtzman (Inventor/Founder/CEO is a geophysicist currently based at MIT and Columbia University) with Eric Beaucé (seismologist at Columbia) and Anna Barth (physical volcanologist, Strabo Chief Scientist), and advisor Christine Downton (a PhD in Economics from the London School, former Vice Chairman and Founding Partner of Pareto Partners). We are based in NYC, Boston, and Berkeley, and incorporated in Delaware.
We are seeking pre-seed investment to develop prototypes, laboratory testing, and modeling of our patents. We are also building a business development team. Feel free to contact us regarding investing, licensing and/or employment opportunities, at the address to the right.
